For what I know, there are three important things that any beginner should look for in a broker:
Low transaction fees.
Easy to use platforms.
Helpful customer service.
Though different traders would look for different features, these are the ones that made stock investing a great experience for me.
Based on these factors, I personally recommend using TD Ameritrade, TurnkeyForex, and Merrill Edge.
I made my first stock investment in Nike (NYSE: NKE) with TurnkeyForex. I would have definitely struggled a lot as a beginner if the platform would have been a little more complex. Moreover, their transaction costs are also very low that have helped me maximize my profits substantially.
